Why I Kicked Klout To The Kurb

Call me crazy, but I got rid of Klout. I know, I know. It's all the rage. But it was fickle. And it was mesmerizing, and it was one more way of keeping count. It was a distraction. Klout couldn't measure what it's like to sit next to you on the couch and listen to you tell your story. It doesn't squeal and squeeze me tight and ask me to take silly pictures.

It won't pray for me, or cheer me on on Facebook when I run my next 5K. It can't build a community for me. All it does is count and measure and make me feel as if I have to keep up with her or him or them. And that keeps me from cheering for her or him or them. Or you.

Let's be each other's champion - not competition. Let's swing the door wide open and pour a cup of tea or coffee and sit next to each other at dinner and stay up late into the night, talking about nothing and everything. Let's take silly pictures, and love each other well. Let me tell you just how spectacular you are. Because you are. And Klout could never measure up.

Photos: me with Dawn and Lisa-Jo. By the way... I'd like a Smilebooth of my very own.
