It's Not You, It's Me

The best option is probably to whisper this little bit of news. Honestly, I've been dreading the day I'd have to tell you this. But it's the truth. And - I've heard it said - honesty is the best policy. So, I'm going to tell you this and hope it doesn't make you throw up your hands in disbelief and rush off to "unfriend" me or something like that.

Okay. So. Here goes.

I just am not that in to Pride and Prejudice.

Are you still here? You are? Well, that's a relief!

I'm sure it's me. I'm sure there is something I'm missing. And if you are a lover of Pride and Prejudice, I assure you - it's not you, it's me.

My Kindle tells me I've read 40% of the book, and I'm committed and will read the entire thing. But right now, I feel stuck somewhere over there in the middle of that maze of character relationships, sent to me by Ann. (Ann shared that chart on my Facebook wall when I asked for help navigating the story. Thanks, Ann. I hope your mom can forgive me.)

One thing I know for sure is that Pride and Prejudice won't suffer because I'm not (yet) a fan. There are movies, and multiple publications of the book, and fan clubs, and Wikipedia pages devoted to Pride and Prejudice. Sheila even found a Jane Austen devotional that you can read online. Who knew?
